Our Mission
The mission of SafeSpace is to give every student a safe, accessible, and judgment-free digital space where they can ask hard questions, get real answers, and receive timely support from trained safety professionals. Through SafeSteps, interactive learning tools, and relatable guidance, SafeSpace empowers students to navigate bullying, online risks, peer pressure, mental health concerns, and everyday challenges with confidence. We are committed to meeting students where they are—online and on their terms—so they always have a trusted place to turn, no matter the time, topic, or situation.
About Crime Stoppers of Houston
Crime Stoppers of Houston is the leading nonprofit in our region focused on keeping communities safe. Since 1980, our mission has been to solve and prevent serious crime by working closely with the public, the media, and the criminal justice system.
We started as a simple Tip Line Program—but now reach millions of people each year through powerful crime-prevention programs, community events, and trustworthy safety education.
SafeSpace is part of this mission. It's a way to bring Crime Stoppers' trusted safety resources directly to students—right where you are, right when you need them.

About the Safe School Institute (SSI)

The Safe School Institute (SSI) is a full-service center dedicated to making schools safer through education, prevention, and student empowerment. Through the John M. O'Quinn Foundation–supported Million for Million Initiative, SSI is working to reach up to 10 million students across Texas with life-saving prevention education and resources.
SSI focuses on all three levels of prevention:
Primary: Safety education for all students
Secondary: Extra support for students facing higher risks
Tertiary: Focused help for those dealing with ongoing safety issues
Since 1997, SSI has offered free, year-round programs that have already reached nearly 1.7 million students across 107 school districts in Greater Houston and throughout the state. SSI works directly with students, teachers, and parents to reduce victimization, prevent unsafe behavior, increase reporting on campus, and build a strong culture of safety and awareness. SafeSpace is a direct result of the Million for Million Initiative, bringing SSI's mission online and giving students 24/7 access to interactive tools, scenario-based learning, and real support from trained safety professionals.
